And It Was A Dish To Remember

Since I arrived Sudan and I am eating either some Jung food or nice Iraqi dishes while invited by Iraqi friends in Sudan, I wish they could invite me everyday.

For the last two days there was no invitation L so I had to manage by myself, and that means either to eat in a restaurant or cook in my compartment! Why not everything is there! And this is how I decided to cook Tepsiee Bethenjaan or egg plant potage with meet and onion. And because it was Saturday I could go shopping everything as any experienced housewife –thanks to my wife and mom though they haven’t taught me how to prepare this dish, yet I recall how they were doing it.

Arrived at the Hotel and started early after noon, and guess what I finished before Maghreb prayer, extremely hungry I poured everything in couple of dishes and warmed up the bread; put some dates and juice and here it goes, nearby mosque announced Maghreb prayer, The Tepsiee Bethenjaan was just as good as any delicious dish that you could imagine, tasty and well cooked; the rice was just perfect and not to mention the dates or even the juice.

And it was a dish to remember ;)

Next day the Iraqi generosity didn’t disappoint me, yet I couldn’t really make it and I apologized cause I have many things do and just between us, and with all that success in my Tapsiee venture, I decided to cook beans and rice and guess what? it was a disastrous attempt lol.

Lesson I learned: success doesn’t rely on confidence only, it relays on believe as well, while success enforce your confidence it shouldn’t temper your believe and motto to work as hard as you did while cooking Tapsiee! ;)

_تجيب كوب عدس و تشيل الاشياء السودا منه
-تغسله الى ان يصفى لون الماء
تسلقه عادي مثل الرز الى ان يلين و تهرسه شوية
الموضوع ما ياخذ ربع ساعة

-تثرم بصلة و تحمسها بقدر ثاني ويا شوية دهن
-تحط فوقها ماي و نص خاشوكة صغيرة بهارات و مكعب ماجي
- تحط شعرية بعد تكسيرها ناعم

-تتركها تفور فد خمس دقايق

-حط عليهاالعدس اللي سلقتهو همين شوية اتركها على نار هادية

و لاتاكلها الا ورا الاذان

ممكن تضيف لحم مثروم الى البصل
و ممكن تضيف في النهاية شوية معجون طماطة اذا كنت من محبي الطماطة

و بالعافية
(على رأي ملكة ام الطبخ في التلفزيون)
